                                                                          Richard Mulberry

I joined the VULCAN CRC from the Old Porlians with Brian Jackson London Coureurs, Paul Anderson Catford

Brian and I teamed up with Bill Tait (he'd been a member for a few years riding with Dave Burwood and John Barnes) we rode many of the 1st cat events all over the country throughout the year. We had a good start in the April Dover-London with me having a win and Brian 4th. We had a fair bit of success with both Brian and I picking up the wins and places with Bill working tirelessly on our behalf and a few wins in his own right.

Paul Anderson, I remember, rode mainly Track and Crits.

The four of us teamed up to win the London Team Pursuit Championships.

Brian Jackson and I rode the Scottish ‘Milk” Race

In 1968 John Sargeant joined us from the Norwood Paragon and Dave Rowe, a good track sprinter, from the 34th Nomads Dave rode most of the track meets around the country including National Titles (Sprint and Tandem Sprint).

John Joined Brian and myself ,and occasionally Bill, for another fairly good year on the road. Archer GP Lincoln GP,Tour of Cotswolds, Hemel Hempstead GP..etc

Olympic road race and TTT trials and English team in Tour of Tarragona in Spain..

!969 It was mainly John and myself (Brian having retired) once again we rode most of the top races and got invited to the Essor Breton in France and Charlottenberg International Criterium in Berlin.

John won Southern Counties Road Championships

I was 3rd London Road Championships

I had a successful month in Belgium ( By successful I mean I just managed to pay my way ! ! ! )

1970 John was selected for the Tour of Britain Milk Race (2 weeks) for a regional team and finished mid field. I spent most of the season backwards and forwards to Belgium and Holland

Belgium again for me in 1971.with ‘mixed success’ (whatever that means).

John remained racing in UK

That was my last racing year, and I think John continued for a couple more years

but I lost touch after hanging up the wheels.
